In nearly every new business appointment I have, at some point the potential clients says to me, "But, my customers (read: adults, professionals, business people, parents, etc.) really aren't on social networks..." or something of the like. Since this perception still exists and continues to be perpetuated, I thought I would address this with some simple, yet astounding facts from a
study by Pingdom. I would encourage that you click through and read the whole study - there are terrific visuals and charts that illustrate how deeply social sites are penetrating ALL the generations.
In the meantime, here is a little taste...
- The average social network user is 37 years old.
- LinkedIn, with its business focus, has a predictably high average user age; 44.
- The average Twitter user is 39 years old.
- The average Facebook user is 38 years old.
